Christmas on Cox

Nothing quite boasts the excitement of honouring and celebrating your perfectly-curated home like the holidays. Welcome to Christmas on Cox! As the Principal Designer at Volumes of Space, I thought it only fitting to feature my family home. After two years of development, we were eager to enjoy many of the personalized features and additions that were added to this custom build. Decorating for the holidays truly allowed us to complement and highlight our favourite parts of the home.

With our family spending most quality time in the kitchen and living room, I knew that we would benefit from ample floor space and an extra-large kitchen island. The cabinetry and countertops were supplied by Barzotti Woodworking Inc. through Pidel Homes. Shaker doors, a neutral colour palette and soft textures provided warmth to what could have otherwise been a more contemporary atmosphere. Architectural detailing was included throughout, from millwork on the staircase wall and wide window door casing, to the coffered ceiling in the living room and sharp feature walls.

The principal bedroom was personalized to our tastes with an electric fireplace, decorative wall detail and an en suite with a soaker tub. The boys’ rooms were decorated with themes that speak to their personalities. One has a “Where the Wild Things Are” theme and the second is all about travel, dreams and adventure. Larger rooms were framed in a way that still offered an open concept feel, but with clear lines that helped to separate one area from the next. The home was made complete with new chairs from HomeSense, a hall table from Accents for Living and one-of-a-kind rugs from Rug & Weave.
